Helping Teens Navigate Growth, Change, and Emotional Well-Being
The teenage years are a time of immense growth and change. As adolescents explore their identities and face academic, social, and emotional challenges, it’s not uncommon for them to feel overwhelmed or misunderstood. Therapy offers a safe, nonjudgmental space for teens to explore their feelings, build resilience, and develop the tools they need to thrive.
How I Help
I have over 25 years of experience working in the fields of education and psychology. Prior to becoming a psychotherapist and educational psychologist in private practice, I spent several years working in school settings.
In addition to my formal education and professional training, my work experience as a teacher, coach, student advisor, counselor, learning specialist, and school psychologist has given me a deep understanding of adolescent development.
Whether your teen is struggling silently or asking for help, therapy can be a vital step toward healing and growth. I approach each teen with empathy, respect, and a deep understanding of the unique pressures they face. My goal is to help them feel heard, supported, and empowered, and to offer them a safe space for self-expression.
I have several years of experience in helping teens manage a wide range of concerns, including:
- Anxiety and depression
- Stress and academic pressure
- Family conflict and communication issues
- Peer relationships and social skills
- Self-esteem and body image
- Identity exploration
- Grief and loss
- Self-harm and suicidal thoughts
- LGBTQ+ issues
Parent Collaboration
I recognize that parenting a teen can be challenging. I collaborate with families as appropriate – offering guidance, communication tools, and regular check-ins – while respecting the adolescent’s need for privacy and autonomy.
